What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device when you visit. They help the website remember things such as whether you are signed in, what is in your cart and your site preferences.
We also use similar technologies, such as local storage, pixels, tags and scripts, which can perform comparable functions. In this policy, we refer to all of these technologies as cookies.
Some cookies are set by TKSHOP itself, also called first-party cookies. Others are set by service providers that help us run the website and our services, also called third-party cookies.
Why do we use cookies?
We use cookies to operate, secure and improve TKSHOP. Depending on the cookie, this can include:
- keeping you signed in to your account
- remembering items in your cart
- processing checkout and payments securely
- helping detect fraud, abuse and technical issues
- remembering your cookie choices and other preferences
- understanding how visitors use the website so we can improve it
- measuring the effectiveness of our own advertising, where marketing cookies are used
What types of cookies do we use?
Essential cookies
These cookies are necessary for TKSHOP to work properly and generally cannot be switched off through our site. They are used to:
- keep you signed in to your account
- remember the items in your cart
- process checkout and payments securely, including fraud-prevention cookies used by Stripe and PayPal
- protect the website against attacks, abuse and other misuse
- remember your cookie choices
Without essential cookies, important parts of the website may not work, including account login, cart and checkout functions.
Preference cookies
These cookies remember choices you make so your visit is smoother and more personalised, such as your region, language or recently viewed items.
Analytics cookies
These cookies help us understand how visitors use TKSHOP, for example which pages are visited, how people find products and where technical errors occur. This helps us improve the website and customer experience. Where possible, we use aggregated or de-identified information for analytics.
Marketing cookies
If we use marketing cookies, they help us measure the performance of our advertising and show you more relevant TKSHOP ads on other websites or services. We do not use these cookies to show you ads from other companies on TKSHOP.
How long do cookies last?
- Session cookies are temporary and are deleted when you close your browser.
- Persistent cookies remain on your device for a set period, or until you delete them, so settings and preferences can be remembered on future visits.
The exact lifespan depends on the cookie's purpose and the service provider setting it.
How can I manage cookies?
You can control cookies in a number of ways:
- Browser settings: most browsers let you view, manage, block and delete cookies. Check your browser's help pages for instructions.
- Device or platform settings: your device or browser may offer additional privacy or ad personalisation controls.
- Advertising choices: you may also be able to adjust ad personalisation settings in accounts you use with advertising platforms.
If you block or disable essential cookies, parts of TKSHOP may not function correctly, including signing in, saving your cart and completing checkout.
Do cookies collect personal information?
Some cookies collect information that may be personal information, such as an IP address, browser identifiers, device identifiers or account-related identifiers. We handle this information in line with our Privacy Policy.
Is cookie data processed outside Australia?
